Kickstart your Career at Sidekick

Sidekick offers diverse settings and multiple service locations, allowing therapists to enjoy a flexible schedule while serving clients. With 3,000+ clients, therapists are able to experience working with various populations and diagnoses to discover their passion. We believe in collaborating with other therapists in an engaging environment to promote overall growth for each therapist.

What is the work experience like at Sidekick?

Our Clinical Leads, District Coordinators, and Clinical Support Staff go above and beyond to provide a great experience for our therapists. Our therapists are passionate about teaching others and sharing their knowledge. Our teammates often rave that they have the opportunity to make amazing friendships with other Sidekick employees. We have meet-ups, dinners, participate in 5K walk/runs, and other teambuilding activities. We also volunteer in a variety of community events including Boo at the Zoo, Sensory Dances, Fall Festivals, Sensitive Santa, and more! Check out our Sidekick in the Community tab!

Where will I be working?

We provide therapy to our clients in a school setting during school hours. Sidekick also serves children in outpatient clinic in Knoxville. We contract with Tennessee Early Intervention Services (TEIS) to provide therapy services to children ages birth to 3 in a clinic setting. In addition, we are able to serve all our patients, when appropriate, via our teletherapy platform!

What hours will I be working?

We treat at schools during school hours. There are some opportunities to treat in our clinic (TEIS). Typically, therapists work a regular school day from approximately 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

All Clinical Fellowship opportunities are full time. We are happy to offer part time options for CCC-SLPs to help find a position that will work best for you while meeting the needs of our patients. Just ask!

What population will I be serving?

Our primary focus is pediatrics, treating clients from birth to 21 years old.

How long are the sessions?

In our schools we follow all IEP recommendations, which is often 20 minute sessions with 1-1 service delivery; these may vary depending on the child’s needs. While this is how we are structured, some of our therapists may see small groups at certain schools in order to meet their needs. In the clinic and early intervention settings, we provide therapy for 30 minute sessions.

What is the average caseload, or an average number of clients seen in a day?

Overall, caseload sizes will be dependent on school size and fluctuation in schedules. The average caseload is 30-40 clients. The average number of clients seen per day is 12-16, but this is dependent on school size and fluctuation in schedules. In schools, our SLPs typically see clients back to back for 20-minute sessions.

Am I paid a salary, or paid per session?

Sidekick offers both salary and per-session pay types. Typically, salary positions include the Clinical Fellowship year and CCC-SLPs that travel to multiple schools. The Per Session Pay option is paid by CPT code for all TennCare patients and hourly for any patients that have other insurance types. The major of our therapists’ caseloads are TennCare. Pay per session/CPT code is the preferred option for therapists that like to work a school calendar. Your recruiter can help answer any questions you have!

In a majority of our contracts, we work with schools to provide treatment services to children with IEPs. There is some IEP paperwork, but we do not typically facilitate the IEP meetings. There are some case-by-case exceptions. We are responsible for selecting the CPT code we are billing, but a third-party handles all of our billing requirements. Notes and documentation are done electronically in our cue platform.

Do you attend IEP meetings / complete school paperwork and billing?

Where will I be working?

Sidekick teammates primarily work onsite in 1-2 schools or up to 2 days in the Knoxville clinic. School-based therapists’ commute home is counted as working hours. Please communicate your preferred areas with your recruiter so we can match you with a school that meets your caseload and commute preferences. All miles driven from your home to a school, between schools, and back home can be reimbursed if you are not using a Sidekick company car.

What does training look like with Sidekick?

Sidekick hosts an annual onboarding training that takes place in July, before the new school year starts, or at the time of hire, if hired after the start of the school year. We get together to do a hands-on presentation of our policies and procedures and to get to know our new teammates.

For teammates starting while school is in session (Aug-May), we provide a virtual training option.

Sidekick is committed to empower our clients to live full and purposeful lives.

Sidekick is continuing to grow and expand across the state of Tennessee. We offer in person and virtual therapy to best meet the needs of our clients.
